After we launched FlowReader, we quickly discovered there were a lot of improvements that needed to be made. We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve been doing to grow as a service, and blown away by the patience and helpful feedback from our community!

Our first year was spent on a complete redesign of our platform and stabilizing things behind-the-scenes to make sure we could deliver a better reading experience to you. But now, we’re finally getting to work many of the features that have had to take a back seat.

We’re really excited to be able to share that better readability is coming soon to FlowReader!

One thing about our reader that has been bothering us is the inconsistency of the content available via RSS: full articles, first paragraphs, and in some cases, no text at all.

So, we’ve been working on a solution that we hope will make your daily reading experience faster and easier!

The upcoming readability update will allow you to read the full text of an item in a lightbox, and you’ll be able to move between unread items without having to close it.

Here’s a sneak peek at one of our readability concept designs:

A few more important things to know:

  • You will still be able to easily open original articles.
  • You’ll be able to move through items with keyboard shortcuts.
  • Easy posting and sharing will also be part of this view!

Our team understands how important it is to have options, depending on how and why you use FlowReader in your daily routine. If we could have had this feature out earlier to you, we would have. We decided performance was our top priority last year, and now we’re doing everything we can to listen and respond to your feedback as quickly as we can!

Readability is the first update in a long list of exciting things we’ve got planned for FlowReader, and we’re putting all our energy into making these improvements happen.

We can’t wait to share these updates with you, and as always, we want to thank you all for your continued support!

Do you like viewing full-text articles in your RSS reader? We’d love to hear from you!
